Well well well. The first day of work is over (well, it's been over for about six hours now, but you know what I mean). I have to say it's looking really good! I have an office on the eigth floor. I share it with two other programmers. My desk area faces these HUGE windows with a just phenomenal view of sprawling SLC (Salt Lake City NOT Sara Lynn Crouch, in case anyone was confuse [see myspace for clarification there]) in a particular tree-filled area of the city. All this framed by the beautiful, resplendent Wasatch Mountains (or they might be the Copper Mountains - I still have a hard time differentiating between the two). Anyway, the view is nice.

Today I just basically got setup and ready for the hard stuff tomorrow and thereafter. I got assigned my laptop and passwords and spent a good 5 to 6 hours installing all the software development tools. lol Good times. I also got to go to a brief 'meeting' in down in HR (it's on the 7th floor, thus I say down) where I got to watch a presentation on WGU's benefits package and also got to fill out joyous paperwork. Really, it was joyous. Trust me. It was funny, a lot of the paperwork and presentational material was quite similar to what I briefed new hires on back in my cafe manager days (you know, WAY back when ;P). So, I was getting all this stuff I already knew, even though I really didn't 'know' it know it, but I knew it, ya know? LOL So, but, so, yeah, there was this other guy getting the whole spiel too, only he obviously didn't 'know' the stuff, 'least not like how *I* 'knew' the stuff, so I found myself trading amusing hypotheticals back and forth with the HR lady in an attempt to cross the border from unknowing to knowing. Any of you who've been to one of my orientations should know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, I get up at 5:30(ish) in the morning nowadays (a potential downside to the job, perhaps) so I fear I must be off to bed. Wish me luck in day two! Miss you guys. ^^

Good luck!

When I worked at a grocery store I spent several months training new employees. I actually kind of liked it (aside of having to watch cheesy videos repeatedly), except when I had to train this guy who kept hitting on me. Ick.

your view only sounds slightly better than the view from the cafe.

Hey Paul-ina!
First off, hi, I am doing okay (in regards to myspace) Sorry I haven't responded. School's busy and I'm getting ready to go to my final Dave concert of the year :(
Second off, as Corey correctly mentions, you, sir, are no longer in Kalamzoo, Michigan and I kindly request that you update your blaagh profile to your new location.
Third off, yay for new jobs! Hope you like it (though, my momma wakes up at 4:30 every morning, so I have little sympathy for you ;))
Fourth, what Cathy said.
Fifth, I hope that the rest of your week goes well and that you enjoy those Mormons :)

@cathy: yeah, really, it's not nearly as good - I can't see Bilbo's anywhere!

@rebecca: okay, I fixed the location! Tell Corey he's got good eyes. lol The rest of the week seems to be going quite well. Just got a couple more hours in this Friday and week one will be over! Then just one more week until EVERYONE's favorite day... that's right, PAYDAY. yeehaw!

@thea alright, I'll enjoy 'em but not overly so, kk?
