Well, I had my interview (the secret thing I was working on) and, while it went well, it doesn't look like I'm gonna get the job. Oh well. Thanks to all of you who were rooting for me - it means a lot. I'm sure better opportunites will arise, but this one was looking so good. I mean, I had a phone interview, my referencew were all told that I was looking like *the* candidate, the job posting actually didn't require 3+ years of prior programming experience in a 'work' environment. *sigh* I guess I can't have EVERYTHING in life come easy, eh? lol

I've been absent from the blogoshpere as of late, mainly due to, well, nothing really. Just feeling unmotivated to write. I'm not sure why - you'll do a great job of commenting, so I'll be more committed to posting from now on (I know *I* hate it when the blogs I frequent don't post regularly enough).

I updated my computer's motherboard, processor, and videocard a couple of days ago. It's really running nice now. Yowza!

Check out this Japanese restaurant I found while trying to google for my blog (which didn't find my blog, incidentally). Okay, so the site is in Japanese, but you'll be able to see some pictures of what is, I'm sure, their most delicious assortment of food. I guess the owner of the restaurant used to own an Italian restaurant. After vacationing in the US, and specifically, a certain beautifully named Oatman, Arizona, he was hit by a flash of inspiration. Upon returning to his native Kawagoe, Japan, he changed his restaurant from Italian to American cuisine and promptly named it Oatman. The kinda neat thing is, I've BEEN to Kawagoe before - my friend Yoko lives there! Probably he really just saw me and decided he wanted to name his establishment after such a cool individual and then just made up some cover story so he wouldn't have to admit it. lol

Another boring post coming atcha, but seriously, if you're using firefox (and if you're not you SHOULD be, dang it) at all, then you'll really appreciate this hackaday.com post about speeding up your firefox. It really helps! I looove it. You will, too, if you do it. Though it won't be any help without a high speed internet connection, so.... who's still on dialup though, honestly? I pity the poor souls who still are.

Well, Valentine's came and went. The turn out this year in the cafe card exchange was a dismal one, but that's okay, I'm not in it to get gifts, I'm in it to give. I hope ya'll liked yer 'cards' this year. Lemme know, kk?

Thea and I are doing vday the japanese way this year, so I had an easy time of it (I don't have to get her anything until March 14 - SHE had to get me stuff for Feb. 14). 'Course, I do the schedule and I made her close while I opened. So... well, maybe that wasn't the most thoughtful thing to do. AND she had to open at her other job (5:50am!). Well, we saw each other for almost two whole hours (my lunch and her lunch) so, that's nice, right? lol Really, it didn't matter, 'cause a day is a day is a day, you know? Yep.

Anyway, I've been busy lately, but I'm not gonna say on what just yet. That's right, it's a secret. Hopefully I'll be able to reveal my machinations soon, but I don't wanna risk jinxin' it by 'counting my chickens before they're hatched.' Wish me luck, though. ;)

Oatman and MystiqueGosh, this is late, but here are the Oatman and Mystique costumes that Thea made for Halloween. Only, at the point in time this picture was taken (by Teppei - thanks Teppei!), we had removed our gloves (hers were white, mine were black). Hands sans gloves are better to eat with, my dear.

These are awesome costumes, though, aren't they? Thea is an amazing seamstress, especially since she has had no training, really - she's just picked it up from her friends who sew. I designed my costume, though, so mebbe I can get some credit (yeah, right, like design takes any work...)

Oh! I *did* make the "utility" belt, replete with spoons (well, it was a ladle actually, and we had to use it for the punch, so it's not pictured either, lol), Instant Oatmeal (for those really in a bind), and, of course, the regular ol' Quaker Oats - breakfast of champions.

For the Mystique (of X-men fame) costume, Thea made the dress, Bonnie (Thea's sister) sculpted the skull forehead charm, and she purchased the boots, belt, and gloves (again, not pictured). The blueness of her skin is actually just poor circulation and low body temperature. hehe Just kidding. It's children's finger paint (the shower drain was blue for days). She even went to work like this (only in one of Mystique's more casual outfits). Crazy, huh?

Top 5 reasons why M is definitely a corporate spy:

5) Favorite show is "Alias" - this one speaks for itself
4) Lots of friends with the same name, who are either spys themselves, or work at Starbucks - can we say transference everyone?
3) Constantly picks fight with boss over such meaningless things as being called a hippo, being "made fun of" for singing lower than the affable Barry White, etc.... - classic case of subversion here; trying to divide the ranks
2)
Unhealthy obsession with Starbucks - she wears Starbuck's shirts *under* her uniform for crying out loud!
1) Derisive comments about chinamen while at work - obviously an attempt to alienate our thriving chinese customer base....

The Next President?

Possibly. Definitely Maybe. Sure is a looker anyway...
