The Scabbers Manifesto

Previously thought lost to the passage of time, and unearthed only recently during routine moving procedures, this (quite ancient looking) tome of knowledge has been found. I present it here, in all its truth-telling tribute. This is the definitive look at the scandal, deception, and intrigue that surrounds the disastrous debacle done to our darling dear, Scabbers. Replete with doubt driving charts and goodness gripping graphs, its sure to be a real eye-opener. So read it my friends, and bask in the now clear name of everyone's favourite (he's British...) familiar!

In The Park
that's right, I finally got some pictures from this gala event (see this post for more info on it). This first picture shows the debutantes, 1 of the 2 town gossips, the director, and the poet (me!).

Johnny Depp eat your heart out! LOL He's not the only one who can wear eye-liner and look dead sexy. 'Course, the jury is still out on whether or not *I'm* a contender - judge for yourself (click on the picture for a much larger [CAUTION: and scarier!] version).

Now I just need the stinkin' dvd of the whole thing. Someday...

Well well well. The first day of work is over (well, it's been over for about six hours now, but you know what I mean). I have to say it's looking really good! I have an office on the eigth floor. I share it with two other programmers. My desk area faces these HUGE windows with a just phenomenal view of sprawling SLC (Salt Lake City NOT Sara Lynn Crouch, in case anyone was confuse [see myspace for clarification there]) in a particular tree-filled area of the city. All this framed by the beautiful, resplendent Wasatch Mountains (or they might be the Copper Mountains - I still have a hard time differentiating between the two). Anyway, the view is nice.

Today I just basically got setup and ready for the hard stuff tomorrow and thereafter. I got assigned my laptop and passwords and spent a good 5 to 6 hours installing all the software development tools. lol Good times. I also got to go to a brief 'meeting' in down in HR (it's on the 7th floor, thus I say down) where I got to watch a presentation on WGU's benefits package and also got to fill out joyous paperwork. Really, it was joyous. Trust me. It was funny, a lot of the paperwork and presentational material was quite similar to what I briefed new hires on back in my cafe manager days (you know, WAY back when ;P). So, I was getting all this stuff I already knew, even though I really didn't 'know' it know it, but I knew it, ya know? LOL So, but, so, yeah, there was this other guy getting the whole spiel too, only he obviously didn't 'know' the stuff, 'least not like how *I* 'knew' the stuff, so I found myself trading amusing hypotheticals back and forth with the HR lady in an attempt to cross the border from unknowing to knowing. Any of you who've been to one of my orientations should know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, I get up at 5:30(ish) in the morning nowadays (a potential downside to the job, perhaps) so I fear I must be off to bed. Wish me luck in day two! Miss you guys. ^^

Well, I made it. Utah is now resident richer. hehe We left on Sunday at noon (est) and arrived on Monday around 8pm (est). It was a long drive! And Randall did all the driving himself. Crazy! We DID stop for about four hours to sleep, but it was just in the car - no wasting money on hotels for us! All in all the drive was a nice one - construction being absent thanks to our friend, Labor Day, and traffic being fairly non-existent. At least until we hit Evanston, WY. See, from Wyoming to Utah there is only ONE real way to enter. That being I-80 through Evanston. Apparently EVERYBODY in SLC was entering via the same route, 'cause the traffic backup was unbelievable! It stretched down I-80 at Evanston all the way to 215 in Utah (google map it to get an idea). Needless to stay, the wait was nigh unbearable, having been cooped up in the car for the past 28 hours and being so close to the final destination. In the end, though, we made it. And it was good.

Now there's nothing left to do 'cept chill out until work begins next week! Sweets. ^^
